When discussing plain language for the web it is important to outline that web readers do not read content the same as when they are reading a hardcopy of content. Content on the web is oftentimes scanned and not fully read. Plain language allows for web readers to fully grasp the concept of the content without having to read a lot of content. Writing in plain language allows for your content to be fully read and not scanned. When writing for the web it is important to understand the needs and wants of your website viewer. Oftentimes this includes someone who does not want to spend hours on a site reading content to get the information they are searching for. Plain language is so important for the web because it allows viewers to find the information they need fast. This improves the overall experience for the viewer and improves SEO. Web readers are very protective of their time and do not like to spend a lot of time searching for information. They want the information they need delivered to them in a concise way that is easy to understand. The use of plain language on the web allows for web readers to quickly and efficiently receive the information they are searching for.
